Annual Conference Focuses on Water

The Kansas Water Environment Association (KWEA) and the Kansas Section of the American Water Works Association (KSAWWA) are holding their fifth annual joint conference today through Thursday at the Hyatt Regency Wichita. More than 500 water industry professionals will gather to learn and discuss important water related topics. Featured activities include a water taste contest, environmental jeopardy competition, backhoe rodeo and recognizing municipalities and industries in the state of Kansas for excellent environmental performance in water and wastewater operations.
 
Each year at the annual conference, businesses are recognized for meeting local wastewater discharge requirements during the previous year. Businesses receiving gold awards must meet at least 95% of all of the discharge permit requirements in 2012. Silver awards are presented to businesses who met permit requirements between 85 – 94% of the time.
