New Airport Terminal and Parking Garage construction projects taking place this week could cause delays and affect vehicular traffic near the Wichita Mid-Continent terminal building.
Beginning on Tuesday, Oct. 29, passengers are encouraged to arrive at least two hours prior to departure to allow enough time for these delays. Piling that is critical to support the future structure of the parking garage will be installed to depths of 80 - 90 feet. The construction equipment necessary to install these pilings will be in close proximity to the roadway leading to the existing terminal building.
Traffic will be diverted as far from the construction operation as practical for safety. There will be times when traffic will be stopped for several minutes while critical construction activity occurs. These traffic delays will occur after the morning rush of flight departures, throughout the day until approximately mid-afternoon. It is anticipated that this work will be completed on or before Monday, Nov. 4, weather permitting.
