Help shape the future of Wichita Parks
City of Wichita officials are asking residents to help identify ways to plan for the future of O.J. Watson Park. Wichita Park & Recreation will be hosting a community meeting from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 in the community facility at O.J. Watson Park, located at 3022 S. McLean Blvd.
All ages are invited to provide ideas for recommended future improvements. The ideas will be used to formulate a vision for O.J. Watson Park. There will be 15-minute walking tours at 3:10, 3:50, and 4:10 p.m. There will also be an overview of the planning process and examples of amenities at similar parks across the country at 3:30 p.m. Learn more about the park by visiting the O.J. Watson Park page.
O.J. Watson Park is a 119-acre site along the Arkansas River in south Wichita. The park includes a 40-acre lake for fishing and pedal boats and also offers a variety of recreational opportunities such as miniature golf, train rides, pony rides, volleyball, and picnicking. The O.J. Watson Park master plan will result in a vision and action plan for the future of the site. Citizen engagement regarding the attractions and investments that best meet community needs is a key piece of the O.J. Watson Park Master Plan.
