Funding Program - Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP)
Funding Amount - $4.7 Billion National Competitive Grant

The national Telecommunications and Information Administration is administering the grant.  The BTOP will focus on innovative programs that encourage sustainable adoption of broadband services.  $200,000,000 will be made available as a competitive grant for technology upgrades to public computing centers, including libraries.

Kansas Broadband Internet (KBI) from Salina intends to submit a proposal for broadband build-out and to provide each library in its current and future service area with a free premium-level internet connection.  Wichita Public Library has added its name to the list of interested libraries.
