Additional Police Officers

Funding Program - COPS Hiring Recovery Program (CHRP)
Funding Amount - $409,194

CHRP is a grant program that provides funding directly to law enforcement agencies to create and preserve jobs and to increase their community policing capacity and crime-prevention efforts.

The City of Wichita applied for a grant to pay for 10 new officers.  The Department of Justice grant will pay for two new officers for 36 months.

Additional Law Enforcement Equipment

Funding Program - Byrne Justice Assistance Grant
Funding Amount - $1,149,854

The City of Wichita and Sedgwick County will share a $2,195,133 grant allocation from the Byrne Justice Assistance Grant.  A portion of Wichita's share of the grant award will pay for radios, tasers, investigations equipment, workstations, scanning services and police equipment.
