The City of Wichita and Mayor Bob Knight are receiving lots of time on the national stage these days.

  • December 4, Mayor Bob Knight will become president of the National League of Cities. The NLC is celebrating its 75th anniversary as the premiere association for cities. It represents the interests of more than 17,000 cities nationwide.

  • December 6, Mayor Knight and others will be at the White House to officially receive the All America City Award from President Clinton.

Also, the City of Wichita and Mayor Knight are featured in several national and state publications this month.

  • American City and County, a magazine for government, is featuring an article on Mayor Knight in the November edition.

  • The LEAP Letter, a utility industry publication subscribed to by thousands of legislators, regulators and utility industry executives is featuring a guest perspective written by Mayor Knight on the City of Wichita’s efforts to attain lower electric rates.

And, The Kansas Government Journal, a magazine with 6,000 subscribers, is featuring the full text of the keynote speech delivered by Mayor Knight at the 89th Annual League of Kansas Municipalities Conference.
