The City of Wichita has hired a new Director of Housing. Nebraska native Roy Johnson began his new position this week. In the last decade Mr. Johnson held the following positions: Housing Rehabilitation and Real Estate Manager, City of Lincoln, NE; Executive Director, Family Housing Advisory Services in Omaha, NE; and Executive Director for the Region XII Council of Governments, Carroll, Iowa. Mr. Johnson has a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Nebraska. He has a distinguished history of developing programs and building coalitions and securing funding to support those programs. "I hope to continue a quality housing program that has been a positive influence within the Wichita community," said Mr. Johnson. More specifically, Mr. Johnson says he hopes to improve coordination of the different housing services provided by local non-profit organizations; increase the level of cooperation between the public and private sector in the area of affordable housing; and develop creative ways of responding to additional needs in the community. Mr. Johnson is married and has four children.
