Driver's License Suspensions

By State Statute and City Ordinance, if you fail to comply with a moving citation, the Court can notify the Department of Motor Vehicles in Topeka, Kansas to suspend your driving privileges. If suspended, you will be required to pay the citation in full. Additionally, you will be charged a $79.00 reinstatement fee plus a $17.50 surcharge for each violation on the citation. If you fail to comply with more than one citation, you can be suspended for all outstanding citations.

If you have a driver's license from another state and fail to comply with a citation issued in the city of Wichita, the Court will notify Topeka, who in turn will notify the state where your driver's license was issued, and it will be suspended. In circumstances like this you will be required to pay reinstatement fees to the state where your license was issued.

If you have questions about a suspension or need to learn the citation number and place of issuance, you need to contact the Department of Motor Vehicles in Topeka. Please be patient when calling, the lines are very busy. Please make note of the case number and court/locations they give you.
