Minutes of the Board of Appeals of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Warm Air Heating and Boilers June 2, 2005 9:00 a.m. Those Present: Ray Frederick, Carl Hanna, Blaine Tharp, Gary Highfill and Dan Leidy Those Absent: Frank Rash, David Hughes and Bob Stith Ray Frederick discussed that the Warm Air Contractor position on the Board which is presently being held by Bob Stith needs to be filled. Ray Frederick stated that everyone needs to get their paper work done for re-appointment for the position they hold on the Board of Appeals. Discussion was continued over the International Residential Building Code. Carl Hanna was concerned that there may be some areas in the International Residential Building Code that are lacking some of the requirements that are in the International Mechanical Code. Dan Leidy stated that the International Codes are a 'family' of codes, and they are inter woven to each other. When adoption is made and the 'family' of codes are 'piece mealed' together, you lose part of the code requirements. When the International Residential Building Code was developed, it was designed to be a 'stand alone' code. If used for residential, the whole code must be used in order for it to 'stand alone'. The area that Carl Hanna was concerned about is in the Fuel Gas section of the International Residential Building Code. The Board was okay with the IRBC at this level and the confusion was cleared up. Mechanical Board Adjourned. Dan Leidy, Secretary of the Board NOTE: The Board met early June for the May meeting.
