MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
Hyatt Hotel Enterprise Board Room
Wichita, Kansas, May 21, 2004
Friday, 8:30 A.M.


The City Council met in special session with Mayor Mayans in the Chair.  Council Members Fearey, Gray, Lambke, Martz, Schlapp present; Brewer absent.

Karen Sublett, City Clerk; present.

The Mayor announced that the purpose of the meeting was to go into executive session.

		***8:45 a.m. - Vice-Mayor Brewer arrived***

	EXECUTIVE SESSION

Motion--	Mayans moved that the City Council recess into executive session to consider: Personal matters of non-elected personnel and that the Council return from Executive Session no earlier than 11:00 a.m. and 
     --carried	reconvene in the Hyatt Hotel Enterprise Board Room.  Motion carried 6 to 0, (Vice-Mayor Brewer absent).

RECONVENE	At 11:05 a.m. the City Council returned from executive session and reconvened in the Hyatt Hotel Enterprise Board Room.  Mayor Mayans announced that no action was taken and moved to extend the executive session until 11:35 a.m.  Motion carried 7 to 0.

RECONVENE	At 11:35 a.m. the City Council returned from executive session and reconvened in the Hyatt Hotel Enterprise Board Room.  Mayor Mayans moved to extend the executive session until noon (12:00 p.m.).  Motion carried 7 to 0.

RECONVENE	At 12:08 p.m. the City Council returned from executive session and reconvened in the Hyatt Hotel Enterprise Board Room.  Mayor Mayans moved to Recess for lunch until 1:00 p.m.  
Motion carried 7 to 0.

Motion--		Mayans moved at 1:20 p.m. to return to reconvene into executive session until 2:20 p.m.  Motion
     --carried		carried 5 to 0, (Fearey and Lambke absent).

RECONVENE	At 2:20 p.m. the City Council returned from executive session and reconvened in the Hyatt Hotel Enterprise Board Room.  Mayor Mayans moved to extend the executive session until 3:20 p.m.  Motion carried 6 to 0, (Lambke absent).

RECONVENE	At 3:20 p.m. the City Council returned from executive session and reconvened in the Hyatt Hotel Enterprise Board Room.  Mayor Mayans moved to extend the executive session until 4:00 p.m.  Motion carried 6 to 0, (Lambke absent).

RECONVENE	At 4:00 p.m. the City Council returned from executive session and reconvened in the Hyatt Hotel Enterprise Board Room.  Mayor Mayans announced that the executive session was concluded and no action was taken.

Motion--carried	Mayans moved to close the executive session.  Motion carried 7 to 0.

Motion--carried	Mayans moved to close the special meeting.  Motion carried 7 to 0.

Adjournment	The City Council Special Meeting adjourned at 4:02 p.m.
