The regular meeting of the Historic Preservation Board was held Monday, January 9, 2006 at 3:00 P.M. in the Metropolitan Area Planning Department Conference Room, City Hall, Tenth Floor, 455 N Main, Wichita Kansas. ITEM NO. 1 ROLL CALL The meeting was called to order and board members stated their names. ITEM NO. 5 APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE 12 DECEMBER MEETING Motion # 1 made by Guy, 2nd by Ingle to approve December 12, 2005 minutes with correction. Motion carried unanimously (6-0). ITEM NO. 6 OLD BUSINESS 1. MAJOR: (HPC2005-00036) Topeka/Emporia Historic District APPLICANT: Grant Gaudreau FOR: 1156 N. Emporia Applicant proposes to renovate 1156-60 N Topeka and build new 8-unit building on vacant lot west of existing apartment buildings. A letter from Historic Midtown Citizens Association was submitted to the board members and a member of the organization was present for the discussion. Motion # 2 made by Edgington, 2nd by Hiesterman to approve the building project as presented. Motion carried (4-3) with Guy, Ingle and Willenberg voting no. 2. MAJOR: (HPC2005-00259) Environs, Kress Building APPLICANT: Spangenberg Phillips, Brad Teeter FOR: 210 E Douglas Applicant proposes to demolish Lerner building and build parking garage between Michigan building and Kress building. HPB reviewed the proposed design of the parking garage structure. Edgington was out of the room during discussion from 4:05 to 4:23 p.m. and arrived back for the vote. Motion # 3 made by Willenberg, 2nd by Edgington to approve the design of the parking garage structure with final approval of the exterior materials. Motion carried unanimously (7-0). Motion # 4 made by Edgington, 2nd by Willenberg to receive and file minor Certificates of Appropriateness HPB2005-216, 273, 274, 277, 279, 280, 282, 284 as presented.
