Wichita Board of Appeals of Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning, Warm Air Heating and Boiler Minutes Wednesday, February 28th, 2008 Present: John Shepherd, Carl Hanna, Ray Frederick, Gary Highfill, Frank Rash, Dave Hughes and Randy Holm Staff: Sharon Dickgrafe w/ Law Department, Kurt Schroeder, Stoney Nethercot, and Kim Mudd Guests Present: Lonny Wright and Alan Baus Chairman, Dave Hughes called the meeting to order. Ray Frederick, seconded by Frank Rash, moved to accept the January minutes, motion carried 7 – 0. Frank Rash, seconded by Gary Highfill moved to accept Mechanical Code 22.04, with one change in the wording (removal of “helper”) and to proceed to the City Council, motion carried 7 – 0. Discussion was held on the Solid Fuel testing and the different types of testing. Information was presented by Alan Baus on the National Fireplace Institute exams. Other discussion was on ICC (International Code Council) administered by LaserGrade. After a lengthy discussion it was requested to do more research before the March meeting and present the additional findings. Alan Baus and Randy Holm left the meeting. Stoney Nethercot, Sharon Dickgrafe and Kurt Schroeder would continue to work on obtaining more information on Solid Fuel testing and the National Fireplace Institute. Lonny Wright gave an update on the status of Bill HB 2847. Kurt Schroeder informed the board, that there would be a split in the supervising duties. There would a Supervisor for the mechanical section and a Supervisor for the plumbing section. Mr. Schroeder announced that Stoney Nethercot had accepted the position as Acting Mechanical Division Supervisor and David Laws had accepted the position as Acting Plumbing Division Supervisor. Discussion was held on the possibility of getting cleaning companies certified. After discussion it was decided the board needed a better scope of this idea, before contacting and getting the cleaning companies involved.
