The regular meeting of the Historic Preservation Board was held Monday, April 10, 2006 at 3:00 P.M. at the Wichita Public Library, 223 South Main, 3rd Floor Auditorium, Wichita Kansas. Motion carried unanimously (5-0). 12. MAJOR: (HPC2006-00038) National Register nomination Stoner Apartment APPLICANT: Inter-Faith Villa Courts LP FOR: 938-940 North Market Applicant requests support of nomination of Stoner Apartment building to the Register of Historic Kansas Places and National Register of Historic Places. The nomination of this property is part of the Memorandum of Agreement with the SHPO for mitigation of the Inter-Faith Ministries project to build a new apartment building in the 900 block of North market. Motion # 3 was made by Guy, 2nd by Hiesterman to support the listing of the Stoner Apartment in the Kansas Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places. Motion carried unanimously (5-0). 13. MAJOR: (HPC2006-00039) National Register nomination Allen Market APPLICANT: Pamela D. Kingsbury for Jim Collins FOR: 2938 E Douglas Applicant requests support of nomination of Allen Market to the Register of Historic Kansas Places and National Register of Historic Places. Motion # 4 was made by Arteaga, 2nd by Guy to support the listing of the Allen market in the Kansas Register of Historic Places and the National register of Historic Places. Motion carried unanimously (5-0). 14. MAJOR: (HPC2006-00043) National Register nomination Noble House APPLICANT: Laurie Hudson FOR: 1230 N Waco, Noble House (WRHP) Applicant requests support of nomination of the Noble House to the Register of Historic Kansas Places and National Register of Historic Places. Motion # 5 was made by Hiesterman, 2nd by Guy to support the listing of the Noble house in the Kansas Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places. Motion carried unanimously (5-0). 15. MAJOR: (HPC2006-00050) Bowers House APPLICANT: Robert Pickens FOR: 1004 N Market Applicant is applying for Historic Revolving Loan in the amount of $25,000 to re-deck and re-roof house and garage and scrape, prime and paint trim and porch on and house and trim on garage. This is a tax credit project. Staff recommends that the board recommend approval of the loan not to exceed $25,000. Motion # 6 was made by Guy, 2nd by Ingle to approve the application for the revolving loan, not to exceed $25,000 with the condition that all other loan requirements are met. Motion carried unanimously (5-0). ITEM NO. 8 MISCELLANEOUS MATTERS 1. New Deal – WPA grant report Board members presented their priority lists for WPA buildings to be nominated. Ms. Morgan will write a letter to WSU requesting their support of listing the buildings on their campus. 2. State Sites Review Board meeting, May 13 No action taken, just a reminder 3. Motion #7 was made by Platt, 2nd by Hiesterman to formally thank Michelle Enke for the tour of the local history library and demonstration of research materials. Motion carried unanimously (5-0).
