Advance Plans Committee Summary of Meeting 7:35 am, September 22, 2005 Attendance Committee Members: Morris Dunlap, Bud Hentzen, Denise Sherman MAPD staff: Christy Askew, Dave Barber, Stephen Banks, Scott Knebel, Scott Wadle, Other: Peter Giroux, Jay Newton, Jim Weber Discussion Summary 1. The Advance Plans Committee approved the minutes of the August 25, 2005 Committee meeting. 2. Jim Weber and Pete Giroux provided timing and scheduling updates on certain 2005 projects. They indicated that area utility companies have sent crews to the Gulf coast to assist with recovery efforts. With reduced local capacity, this has impacted the timing of several County public works projects. Pete Giroux mentioned that the County has a 5-year cycle of maintenance on major County roads. One major project amendment to the County CIP is the construction of a frontage road along the south side of US 54/Kellogg from 119th Street to 135th Street. In terms of 2006-2010 CIP program updates, project pages are available on the County's website. The County would welcome input from the MAPC. Morris Dunlap felt that the County should seriously consider upgrading Greenwich Road to a 4-lane standard from K96 north to K254, due to increasing traffic volumes occurring on this road segment. Morris also felt that Woodlawn should become the major 4-lane north-south arterial through Bel Aire. Jay Newton mentioned that the City has road improvements planned in 2006 for that segment of 151st Street located north of Kellogg and south of Maple Street. Morris also mentioned that the City's CIP should be amended in future to provide for a widening of Central between Hillside and Oliver. 3. The Committee members felt that it was important to continue to meet with the City and County CIP representatives on a quarterly basis in order to help the MAPC know whether the City and County CIP's will support proposed developments that come before the MAPC for approval. 4. No future meetings of the Advanced Plans Committee were scheduled at this time. However, it was decided that it would be appropriate to meet with the City and County CIP representatives again in December 2005. Meeting adjourned at 8:20 a.m.
