MAJOR: (HPC2007-00280) Historic Revolving Loan application. APPLICANT: Heather Brock FOR: 431 S. Vassar This 1½-story bungalow is located within the 1919 city limits and meets the guidelines for participation in the loan program. Staff recommends that the loan be approved. Motion #3 made by Willenberg, 2nd by Ingle to find the application for $5,000.00 from Historic Revolving Loan to be approved with the condition that it meets the guidelines for participation in the loan program. Motion carried unanimously (5-0). 2. MAJOR: (HPC2007-00282) Environs: Adeline Apartments and Topeka-Emporia NR Historic District. APPLICANT: City of Wichita FOR: 1410 N. Broadway Applicant proposes to demolish a commercial structure to allow for improvement to intersection at 13th and Broadway. Motion #4 made by Ingle, 2nd by Seiwert to find the demolition of the concrete block structure at 1410 N. Broadway does not encroach, damage or destroy the environs of the, Adeline Apartments or the Park Place/Fairview or the Topeka/ Emporia National Register Historic District. Motion carried unanimously (5-0). 3. MAJOR: (HPC2007-00310) Park Place/Fairview NR Historic District APPLICANT: Trent Commer FOR: 1733 Park Place Applicant proposes to demolish the garage at this address due to its extreme deterioration. This property is a non- contributing structure in the Park Place/Fairview National Register Historic District. Staff recommends approval for demolition of the garage because of its deteriorated condition and non-conformity with residential side yard setback requirements. Motion #5 made by Willenberg, 2nd by Ingle to approve the demolition of the detached garage at 1733 Park Place. Motion carried unanimously (5-0). 4. MAJOR: (HPC2007-00292) Nomination to National Register of Historic Places APPLICANT: Wichita Historic Preservation Office. FOR: Multiple Property Document, "Residential Resources 1870-1957: Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas" Applicant seeks support for submission of National Register nomination to Kansas State Sites Review Board. A Multiple Property Document is a mechanism recognized by the National Park Service by which non-contiguous properties of various architectural styles may be individually nominated over time to the National Register of Historic Places. The document describes the history of residential development in Wichita, thereby setting up a context statement for single-family and multi-family housing that is associated with known architects, contractors, or land developers, and with national housing trends between 1870 and 1957. When a residence is to be nominated, the historic and architectural significance can be drawn from the MPD on file, thus shortening the research and writing process for each individual nomination. Motion #6 made by Ingle, 2nd by Seiwert to find that the Multiple Property Document "Residential Resources 1870-1957, Wichita Sedgwick County Kansas be submitted for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. Motion carried unanimously (5-0). 5. MAJOR: (HPC2007-00143) Nomination to National Register of Historic Places, Smyser House APPLICANT: Peter Logsdon FOR: 931 Buffum Applicant seeks support for submission of National Register nomination to Kansas Historic Sites Board of Review. The property owner requested staff to apply for a determination of eligibility for listing in the state and national registers of historic places. SHPO reviewed and requested that a nomination be prepared. The State Sites Historic Review Board will hear the nomination on August 18, 2007. Staff recommends that the HPB support the nomination of the Smyser House to the Register of Historic Kansas Places and the National Register of Historic Places. Motion #7 made by Ingle, 2nd by Pulkkila to support the submission of the Smyser House for nomination to the Register of Historic Kansas Places and the National Register of Historic Places. Motion carried unanimously (5-0). 6. MAJOR: (HPC2007-00291) Nomination to National Register of Historic Places, Newbern-Gore House. APPLICANT: Sharon & Bill O'Neil FOR: 400 S. Roosevelt Applicant seeks support for submission of National Register nomination to Kansas Historic Sites Board of Review. The property owner requested staff to apply for a determination of eligibility for listing in the state and national registers of historic places. SHPO reviewed and requested that a nomination be prepared. The State Sites Historic Review Board will hear the nomination on August 18, 2007. Staff recommends that the HPB support the nomination of the Newbern- Gore House to the Register of Historic Kansas Places and the National Register of Historic Places. Motion carried unanimously (5-0). 7. MAJOR: (HPC2007-00293) Nomination to National Register of Historic Places, Brown Building. APPLICANT: Broadway Plaza LLC. FOR: 105 S. Broadway Applicant seeks support for submission of National Register nomination to Kansas Historic Sites Board of Review. The property owner requested staff to apply for a determination of eligibility for listing in the state and national registers of historic places. SHPO reviewed and requested that a nomination be prepared. The State Sites Historic Review Board will hear the nomination on August 18, 2007. Staff recommends that the HPB support the nomination of the Brown Building to the Register of Historic Kansas Places and the National Register of Historic Places. First Street. Applicant seeks support for submission of National Register nomination to Kansas Historic Sites Board of Review. SHPO reviewed and requested that a nomination be prepared. The State Sites Historic Review Board will hear the nomination on August 18, 2007. Staff recommends that the HPB support the nomination of the Farmers & Bankers Historic District to the Register of Historic Kansas Places and the National Register of Historic Places.
