The Board then reviewed and discussed article 353 of the 2005 NEC and under uses permitted it is allowed in discrete lengths or in continuous lengths from a reel and is allowed in direct burial installations in earth and concrete. But it takes special precautions on the bends and trimming the cut ends, and also special couplings, fittings and boxes. It was agreed by the Board members that HDPE conduit can be installed but must be installed per the same OCI policy that governs the boring and vibrating of other electrical raceways. Under part A of the new business section of the agenda, Secretary Kerschen explained that we have not received the 2008 NEC books and would need to move that item to the November agenda. With no other business to conduct, Board member Whittit made a motion to adjourn. Board member Ragland seconded the motion and the meeting adjourned. The time was 3:50 pm. Tom Kerschen, Secretary, Board of Electrical Appeals 1
