A new sewer soon will be constructed to serve Earhart Elementary School and the adjacent neighborhood east of Arkansas.
On or about Jan. 15, construction of the sewer main will begin at the south end of Dale Avenue (at Chisholm Creek) and move north. Dale Avenue will be closed in one-block segments, including the intersections at east/west streets.
Sewer main construction in Jackson Avenue, south of K-96/I-235, will also require street closure in about one-block segments.
Lateral sewer lines for the neighborhood north of Chisholm Creek and east of Arkansas will be constructed in 41st, 42nd, Long Lane and 43rd Streets, both east and west of Dale Avenue. The construction schedule will depend on the weather and construction factors.
The projected completion date for the entire project is July. Dondlinger Construction is the contractor for the project. Cost of the project is about $1.7 million.
