Wichita Mid-Continent Airport officials today announced nonstop service to Detroit, the automotive capital of the world and birthplace of Motown. Northwest Airlines is providing the nonstop service, which begins on May 2. Pinnacle Airlines, operating as Northwest Airlink, will fly a 50-seat Canadair Regional Jet.
Northwest Airlines is one of the world’s largest airlines with hubs at Detroit, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Memphis, Tokyo and Amsterdam, and approximately 1,400 daily departures. Northwest is a member of SkyTeam, an airline alliance that offers customers one of the world’s most extensive global networks. Northwest and its travel partners serve more than 1,000 cities in excess of 160 countries on six continents.
The service to Detroit represents the 13th nonstop service offered at Mid-Continent.
“Nonstop service to Detroit will give travelers much easier access to Europe and Asia, as well as convenient connections to the Northeast,” said Valerie Wise, Mid-Continent’s Air Service Manager. “Northwest Airlines is to be commended for the confidence it has shown our region and for offering this excellent service to our airport.”
