The 2008 Excellence in Public Service Awards winners will be honored at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, during a reception at the Wichita Art Museum, 1400 W. Museum Blvd.
The winners are:
- Sgt. James Espinoza, Community Policing of the Wichita Police Department;
- J’Vonnah Maryman, Program Manager for Sedgwick County;
- And David Dennis, Sr., Data Leader for the Wichita Public School District.
Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer, who will speak at the Thursday reception, praised the honorees.
“Each recipient embodies public service,professionalism and civic engagement at the highest level,” Mayor Carl Brewer said. “They are model public servants who are worthy of public recognition.”
Each winner will receive a $2,500 check from the DeVore Family Foundation, the sponsor of the Excellence in Public Service Award since its inception in 1988.
They were chosen from thousands of eligible public servants from the City of Wichita, Sedgwick County and the Wichita Public School District.
The winners were chosen for their strong work ethic, high performance, community commitment and other leadership characteristics.
