Due to the heavy rains and potential for flash flooding in local areas, the Wichita Fire Department (WFD) is seeking the media’s assistance in notifying motorists to please avoid areas that are prone to flooding.
Two flood-prone areas are:
- Bleckley, from Central to South of Douglas;
- and Meridian, from Orient to Harry.
WFD, along with the Public Works Department, is monitoring these areas and assisting residents who become stranded. Dozens of motorists have been stranded Tuesday morning and many have required rescue efforts.
If there are barricades present don’t drive around the barricades, turn around and take another route.
