Sept. 29 open house event seeks input from residents
An open house to seek public feedback about the newly-released downtown parking and mobility plan is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Century II between Concert Hall and Expo Hall. The event will feature various information stations for residents to collect information.
The open house follows the release of a downtown parking and mobility plan to a joint meeting of the Wichita City Council and Sedgwick County Commission on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
At the joint meeting, the Wichita City Council and Sedgwick County Commission received and discussed the preliminary draft of the Carl Walker Parking and Mobility Plan Downtown Wichita. The plan provides solutions for bringing together the elements of downtown parking and mobility.
The plan was developed in partnership with Sedgwick County, Wichita Downtown Development Corporation and SMG. It provides recommendations for maximizing parking resources and gives solutions for addressing future downtown development. The plan provides strategies for daily operations and management, special event operations, alternative methods of transportation and communication of information and resources.
