It’s time to get your furnace checked and serviced. With the recent drop in temperatures, the Wichita Fire Department has responded to several faulty heating appliance calls.
To ensure a safe and warm home, the department offers the following tips:
-
Have your furnace checked annually by an authorized service person.
-
Make certain that air filters are clean; a clogged air filter makes fan motors work harder.
-
If you have a floor furnace, remove all rugs or coverings from the grill before turning your furnace on.
-
Keep combustibles at least 36 inches away from the furnace.
-
For energy savings, consider the use of a programmable thermostat.
