Wichitatransittalks.com

The City of Wichita launched WichitaTransitTalks.com today, an interactive virtual “town hall” seeking community input about transit services.

The site provides a convenient way for residents to share ideas, offer opinions and make recommendations on a broad variety of Transit subjects including routes, services and possible expansion plans, Wichita Transit Director Mike Vinson said. The site also makes it possible to engage more participants who might not be able to attend conventional public meetings, he added.

“We are always looking for better ways to capture input and ideas from residents,” Vinson said. “Their opinions will be an important part of shaping future plans for Transit services.”

Residents are encouraged to sign up at WichitaTransitTalks.com and join the discussion. Participants will have an opportunity to win awards to be determined and announced later.

The City will use ideas and comments from WichitaTransitTalks.com, surveys and feedback from past stakeholder meetings to draft transit scenarios, which will be presented to the public in meetings and online in January. The public will then have an opportunity to provide feedback on the scenarios at future public meetings or at WichitaTransitTalks.com. Based on public feedback, a preferred scenario will be developed and presented to the Wichita City Council in February or early March.
