Would local emergency officials know how to respond to a biological or chemical warfare attack in the Wichita community? Wichita area emergency responders will be tested to the full extent of their ability on June 15 as they take part in a domestic preparedness exercise. This is the third and final exercise conducted in Wichita to enhance the capability of local emergency responders to effectively manage terrorist incidents involving nuclear, biological or chemical weapons of mass destruction. The mock event will take place at Henry Levitt Arena on the Wichita State University Campus. A briefing for reporters and VIP guests will be held at 9:15 AM at the media staging area in the parking lot to the west of Henry Levitt Arena (near Hillside). Parking is available in the lot to the north of the arena. Members of the media must sign in at the registration table. Participants in the exercise include the City of Wichita, Sedgwick County, State of Kansas, Federal government, American Red Cross, Salvation Army, and local hospitals. Teens from area schools and local boy scouts will participate as victims for the event.
