Wichita Mayor Bob Knight has been elected to the Advisory Board of the United States Conference of Mayors. This is the second time Knight has been recognized by his peers in national city organizations by being elected to a leadership position. Knight is Immediate Past President of the National League of Cities and continues to serve on the NLC Board of Directors. "My role in both of these prominent national organizations helps bring attention to the progressive and positive things we are accomplishing in Wichita," Knight said. "My involvement in the United States Conference of Mayors and the National League of Cities allows Wichita the chance to be in the national spotlight along with the biggest cities in America." The Advisory Board consists of member Mayors who are active in advocating policy on Capitol Hill and to the White House. The United States Conference of Mayors is the official nonpartisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more. The United States Conference of Mayors aids in the development of effective national urban policy, strengthens federal-city relationships, ensures that federal policy meets urban needs, and provide mayors with leadership and management tools of value in their cities.
