As we do for any event of this magnitude, the police department has been planning and preparing to be ready for Operation Save America.

We want to assure the citizens of Wichita that the quality and level of public safety services for the entire community will not be compromised during this event.

The Police Department is committed to making sure that the event is peaceful, that laws are not violated, and that everyone’s rights are preserved.

Barriers will be erected in order to promote safe assembly and movement of event participants as well as ensuring that area businesses and residents can continue their normal activities.

While we do not anticipate any problems or any civil disobedience, I do want the public to understand the following:

  • We are asking that all participants and observers please do not circumvent the fencing that will be erected as a safety precaution.

  • Please do not attempt to block access or disrupt operation of the businesses. These are the types of actions that will put public safety at risk, and will result in the arrest of the violators.

If any laws are violated, officers on the scene will be expected to make an arrest and any adult individuals arrested will be transported to the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility where they will be required to post a cash bond before they are released.

Any juveniles who are arrested will be transported to the Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center where they will remain until a parent or legal guardian make arrangements for their release.

Again, we do not anticipate any civil disobedience or having to make any arrests, but we are prepared to do so if necessary in order to ensure public safety.

Our primary goal at this event, as always, is to protect the rights of all our citizens.
