ArtsCorps Wichita, a new program offered through AmeriCorps, is currently looking for creative individuals to serve their community as artists-in-residence and tutorial assistants.
ArtsCorps Wichita is a program that incorporates visual arts, language arts, and community service through individual and group tutoring and community arts projects. The program is located at two project sites – the 21st Street Boys and Girls Club and Ingalls/Isely Edison Academy. The yearlong program seeks 24 individuals who are skilled in creative writing, performance arts, visual arts, photography and videography. Each site will host 10 arts/language arts tutorial assistants, with four full-time artists-in-residence rotations.
Artists-in-residence will receive a monthly living allowance, health insurance, child care assistance, student loan deferment and interest payment, educational awards and college credit.
Interested applicants must be at least 17 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, commit to one year of service in the program and pass a KBI check and SRS child abuse registry check. The program is looking for individual from all facets of the community.
ArtsCorps Wichita is a partnership between the City of Wichita and the Corporation for National Service through the Kansas Office of Community Service.
