The Wichita Police Department is hosting its Seventh Annual Show ‘N’ Shine car show on Sunday, Sept. 23 from noon until 4 p.m. The show will take place at Wichita State University in the parking lot at 21st and Hillside. The show is free to attend, and there is a $10 charge to enter a vehicle in the show.
Numerous area law enforcement agencies will be participating this year including, but not limited to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Sedgwick County Sheriff, Derby Police Department, Haysville Police Department, Maize Police Department, Bel Aire Police Department, Butler County Sheriff and Sedgwick County Fire Department.
Trophies will be awarded to the winners of the many different classes of cars, trucks, and motorcycles entered in the show. There will also be many gifts and prizes given away at the show including a CD player, hats, shirts, key chains and hide-a-keys, according to Wichita Police Department Sgt. Kenneth Kimble, Patrol West.
Some of this year’s sponsors include Northwest Imports, Bosley’s, Trophies Plus, Fisher’s Transmissions, Advanced Audio, Power 93.9 and Albertson’s.
“More than 40 different Law Enforcement and Specialty Vehicles will be featured in this year’s show,” said Sgt. Kimble. The proceeds from this show will be donated to the Union Rescue Mission’s Haven of Hope, which offers a variety of services to the citizens in the Wichita community.
Past recipients of the Show ‘N’ Shine Car Show include the Wichita Children’s Home and Youth Development Services.
