The City of Wichita is providing the public with dynamic Air Quality information through its web site at www.wichita.gov/airquality/. The new Air Quality Web site will provide an excellent resource of information regarding the status of our community’s air quality.
Data for the site is collected by monitoring equipment sited at various locations throughout the city and fed into the website database. Information will be available regarding ozone (smog), particulate matter (which includes dust, soot, and smoke) and carbon monoxide. Data for the site is posted every hour and is converted into the EPA Air Quality Index format. This is official data that is used by the EPA and KDHE to determine Wichita’s compliance with the National Ambient Air Quality Standards.
Overall Wichita is in compliance with federal air standards and for this reason this region is designated as an air quality attainment area.
