In efforts to ensure code compliance and citizens’ safety this Fourth of July, the Wichita Fire and Police Department will initiate a team approach by patrolling in each of the city’s four patrol districts together. The purpose of the enhanced enforcement campaign is to provide a margin of safety for the officers who will be encountering “face to face” situations confiscating illegal fireworks and issuing citations. These patrol efforts will take place during the days of July 3rd and 4th when illegal fireworks use and complaints are usually the highest. The Wichita Fire Department advises all citizens that if you want to make sure your fireworks are legal and not be subject to confiscation, “Buy them in the City of Wichita.”
