Wichita Mayor Bob Knight will deliver the State of the City Address to Wichita citizens on Thursday, February 27 at 7 p.m. The address will be given in the Wichita City Council Chambers before a distinguished audience of City Council Members, City officials, and invited citizens, business and community leaders. The State of the City Address will be broadcast live on City TV Channel 7 on Cox Cable. In past years, Wichita Mayors have delivered the State of the City address as part of the Changing of the Guard ceremony, which follows the swearing in of newly elected City Council members. This change of format will give the address to citizens about the state of their city a higher profile. State of the City Addresses, like their counterparts given by the President and Governor, are designed to inform the community of actions taken by their government and past, present and future accomplishments and challenges in the community. Please mark your calendars for Thursday, February 27 at 7 p.m. More details on the event, including arrangements for media coverage will be announced closer to the date of the speech.
