It’s time for tail-wagging, scratch-at-the-door fun when CityArts, 225 W. Lewis, hosts its annual Dog Gone Party from 1 to 3 p.m. March 22. Canine pets and their owners are invited to join in the festivities at this celebration that honors the Sunflower Cluster Dog Show and Art Show at the Dog Show exhibit. Dog and human will enjoy the paintings, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics and other artworks currently on display in the CityArts’ gallery. Plenty of activities geared to the bow wow crowd are planned: Decorate Your Dog contest: Adults (16 and up) and kids (6 to 15) can dress up their pooches and compete for prizes with homemade outfits and accessories encouraged. Stupid Pet Tricks: Dogs who do stupid tricks will get the attention they well deserve as they compete for the titles of Stupid, Stupider and Stupidest with dog-themed prizes for the winners. Capture the special moment: A professional photographer will be on hand to take pictures of man and beast (woman, too). Or, if you prefer the arty approach, choose a sketch by one of our on-site artists. Make your own dog: Don’t have a dog? Or maybe your pup longs for a pal. Kids can have creative fun as they build their own dog sock puppet. Admission to the event is free, although a fee will be charged for portraits and contest entries. Come early to get in on snacks – for both dogs and humans. All dogs must be on a leash or lead.
