Spring in Wichita means great golfing weather and the City of Wichita has made it even easier for golf lovers that are residents and visitors to sign up for their tee times. The new website – www.golfwichita.com – that was unveiled at today’s City Council meeting, has many features but by far the best is the ability to reserve tee times up to a week in advance. After only a few clicks of the keyboard, you can have your tee time reserved at any of the City’s five Municipal golf courses with a credit card number. This includes tee times at Tex Consolver, L.W. Clapp, MacDonald, Sim Park and the City’s newest course, Auburn Hills.
This is part of the Golf Wichita program that is an effort to bring visitors to Wichita as a golf destination in the State of Kansas. The City of Wichita has partnered with the Greater Wichita Convention & Visitors Bureau to highlight the City’s courses in area trade publications, through radio advertising and hotel packages offered on the website www.visitwichita.com.
Golf is a sport that is enjoyed by young and old alike. City golf courses accommodate over 200,000 rounds of golf annually. They host area boys and girls high school golf teams, sponsor high school, college tournaments, and the Junior Golf Foundation. The schedule for 2003 includes Wichita Golf Association Tournaments, Women's Golf Association of Wichita Tournaments, Kansas Golf Association Pub Links in June, a USGA Mid-Am Qualifier in September, and many locally sponsored events.
