The Wichita Fire Department wants the Fourth of July to be safe and enjoyable for everyone.

The sale of fireworks will began June 27 and will go through mid-night July 5, 2004. Fireworks can be shot off during the dates of June 27 through midnight July 5, 2004. However, Fireworks that make a noise should not be shot off after 10:00 PM. These will be in violation of the noise ordinance and a citation can be issued.

Certain types of fireworks are illegal within Wichita City limits. Illegal fireworks can be dangerous, injuring citizens and damaging property.

Each year, the City receives many calls from citizens concerned with the types of fireworks shot off in their neighborhoods.

If you're celebrating with fireworks, please shoot only those that are legal in Wichita.

Simply remember.......

Fireworks purchased in the City of Wichita have been tested and approved for use in the City. Fireworks not purchased in the City may be illegal and you may be subject to a fine.  If in doubt, please remember...
