The response has been incredible at the announcement that the City of Wichita’s Golf Division will be sending out "temporary memberships" in the August water bills. As part of an effort to encourage season ticket sales to boost golf rounds, the City of Wichita will be sending a "temporary membership" for a trial basis to the citizens of Wichita. The person may bring the insert to any municipal course and play for only $4 on weekdays and $5 on weekends. This offer is good for one time use through September 30, 2004.
Since that announcement, phone calls have been pouring in at City Hall. This has increased calls for the Water & Sewer Department which is already swamped with calls for service. Because of this, the City of Wichita would like to ask residents to be patient. The Water Department sends out approximately 6,000 water bills per day (140,000 total). They do not all go out at once. This is why some get a bill early in the month, some later in the month. Please refrain from calling the Water Department to request your water bill be delivered early or that you pick it up personally because that is not possible in the City’s system.
If you are an apartment dweller that does not receive a water bill, or a person living outside of the city limits, you may pick up an insert starting Monday, August 9 at the Park & Recreation Department on the 11th Floor of City Hall. A limited amount of inserts will be available on a first come, first serve basis and is one per customer only. They cannot be mailed to you. Until you get your water bill, please be patient and continue golfing at one of the City’s fantastic five courses.
