Wichita Mid-Continent Airport, in cooperation with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), has implemented additional security measures on a random basis to enhance the already rigorous security at the airport. These actions are being initiated to bolster security as our nation approaches events that offer inviting targets for terrorists. The measures will create a random and ever-changing security posture that will increase risks for terrorists and disrupt their plans. The measures include such things as vehicle inspections, increased random law enforcement patrols and more random screenings of airline passengers. To maximize the deterrent effect, the additional security measures will not take place on a consistent scheduled basis but will be implemented randomly. Airline passengers should continue to follow their airline guidance on when to arrive at the airport. The additional measures should not require passengers to arrive at the airport any sooner than normal.
