Crews Working on East & West Sides
The Ice Storm of January 4 did considerable damage to our City. And, while it took Mother Nature one night to do this damage, it will take our public service employees and contract crews longer to clean it up. Please remember these things as the City and contractor work to clean up storm debris:
-
Pile your limbs curbside, as close as possible to the street, but not in the street. Our crews can not go on private property to pick up or cut limbs.
-
Don’t park in front of the limb piles. We can’t pick up what we do not have access to.
-
Don’t block the sidewalks.
-
Don’t worry if all of your limbs are not at curbside just yet … We will go through the city twice. There is no need to call and get your name on a "list"
-
Don’t worry if the crews remove the broken and hanging limbs and then move on, the limbs at curbside will be picked up later. There are crews working on broken and hanging limbs and crews working on hauling limbs.
-
PLEASE Dispose of small twigs on your own. We don’t have the equipment to pick up smaller limbs and we are trying to get through the 150 square miles of our city as quickly as possible. Thank you for your help!
As we continue cleaning up, our crews are working on the east and west sides of town.
-
THIS WEEK, crews will be on the EAST side: Between I-35 & Hillside
-
And the WEST side: Between Seneca & West St.
Also, Brooks Landfill site has been extended for free dumping. Wichita citizens are reminded that this free site will only take tree limb debris from the January 4 ice storm. Other types of debris or waste will be required to pay the normal tipping fee. This site will be open through Saturday, February 5 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
