The City’s newest interactive spray parks are opening this Friday, June 17 at Noon. The spray parks are located in Fairmount and Osage parks. The spray parks offer citizens an opportunity to cool off and beat the summer heat. Interactive elements can be activated by the press of a button which turn on the spray features such as water blasters, dumping buckets and a giant water-breathing dragon. The concrete surface of the spray parks is painted with a world map and pictures of children playing. Permanent shade structures have been installed at both parks.
Fairmount Park is located in District 1 at 16th and Vassar and Osage park is located in District 4 at 2121 W. 31st Street South. These projects are part of the Capital Improvements Program. Both parks were home to swimming pools that have been removed. Fairmount pool was closed in 1998 and Osage was closed in 2004. Both parks will be open daily from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm through late summer. Admission is free.
