With the attention of higher gas prices and the impact it has on local pocketbooks, the City of Wichita would like to remind citizens of the convenient, easy and great service offered through public transportation. Currently, Wichita is still far from embracing the benefits of public transportation with only 2% of the population utilizing these services. With gas prices climbing, this is an opportunity to consider taking the bus!
Wichita Transit currently operates 18 bus routes which are of a "fixed" path of travel. This means that a bus is scheduled to arrive at a certain destination point along its route, at a fixed time of day. Each route is detailed on the City website at www.wichita.gov. Hyperlinks are provided in this document to view routes. They are:
Wichita Transit is dedicated to the transport of individuals with disabilities and in April of 2002, received its final delivery of 40 new buses. With these new buses operating on the streets of Wichita, Wichita Transit is 100% fully ADA compliant and accessible.

The buses do not run on Sundays or major holidays (New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day). The Downtown Transit Center is open from 7:00 AM-6:30 PM on weekdays, and 7:30 AM-5:30 PM on Saturdays. Bus passes may be purchased at all Dillon's stores, the Wichita Transit administrative office and at the Downtown Transit Center. Costs are as follows:

Also, when in downtown be sure to take "The Q" to meetings and a favorite lunch spot! "The Q" has trolleys running Monday through Friday from 11 AM to 3 PM. This Delano/Old Town Blue Q line runs back and forth from the two points on Douglas. This trolley stops every 20 minutes at every intersection, which is marked by the unmistakable "Q" stencil on the street and sidewalk. The traditional route, that takes a larger loop around the downtown, continues with two trolleys dedicated to the service. This is called the Downtown Green Q-line and picks up every 10 minutes. On Saturdays, a special Museum Loop Orange Q-Line shuttle will run from 10 AM to 4 PM to connect the downtown hotels, museums and attractions for citizens and visitors every 30 minutes. One thing that was kept from last year is the same cost: only quarter! For exact route information and more, visit www.theqline.com.
