In response to a request from a soldier deployed in Iraq with the Kansas Army National Guard, an Infantry Company from Wichita Kansas, local golfers have donated numerous golf clubs, bags, golf balls, tees, and other golf related items. The City of Wichita golf courses were the drop site for these donations. The estimated value of the donated golf supplies is at $2,000-$2,500.
"The City Golf Division wishes to express gratitude to all of the very generous golfers that play at the City courses," said Don Harrison, Golf Division Manager. "There were over one hundred golf clubs, including several complete sets, some brand new, some used and thousands of golf balls that are now being sent thanks to the generous people that play at City of Wichita golf courses," Harrison said.
The donated items are being sent to the servicemen deployed with the 2nd Battalion 137th Infantry. Delivery has been coordinated with the Army National Guard Rear Echelon in Wichita. The donations are on their way to the troops.
