The Wichita City Council approved indicators for the five primary goals driving the City’s annual budget process, known also as Managing For Results. The 2006-07 indicators, which were approved during the Council meeting on Tuesday, are tools to help monitor progress toward the five primary goals. Following are the goals and their respective three indicators: Provide a safe and secure community Maintained and/or improved response time and crime rate Improved environmental health and community safety Maintained and improved citizen perception of public safety Promote economic vitality and affordable living Improved availability, quality and diversity of jobs Sustained affordable living Partnered with economic development and affordable living stakeholders Ensure efficient infrastructure Maintained safe and dependable transportation systems Provided reliable, compliant and secure utilities Maintained and optimized public facilities and assets Enhance the quality of life Citizens are retained in the community Citizens are satisfied with the quality of life Citizens receive a return on all of their quality of life investments Support a dynamic core area and vibrant neighborhoods Increased and sustained neighborhood vibrancy citywide Increased sense of community, neighborhood involvement and satisfaction Continued revitalization of the Core Area (as defined by WDDC boundaries) "I like the indicators," Wichita Mayor Carlos Mayans said.
