Reconstruction of Central from Oliver to Rock Road is slated to begin Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006. The project is scheduled to be complete by July 28, 2007.
Construction will be performed in two phases.

Phase 1: will restrict traffic to one lane in each direction on the north half of Central, from Oliver to Woodlawn. From Woodlawn to Rock Road, the traffic will be shifted to the existing south lanes. Intersections will be constructed by quadrants (one corner constructed at a time). Left turns will be permitted at either Edgemoor or Woodlawn, depending on which intersection is under construction at the time.

Phase 2: will restrict traffic to one lane in each direction on the existing south lanes from Oliver to Woodlawn. From Woodlawn to Rock Road, the traffic will be shifted to the existing north lanes. Left turns will be permitted at either Edgemoor OR Woodlawn, depending on which intersection is under construction at the time. During this phase of the project, the intersections will be completed and a center turn lane will be constructed.
No two adjacent side streets will be closed concurrently. Access to properties adjacent to the project will be maintained where possible.
Since this project affects traffic flow on a major street, contractor LaFarge North America will be allowed to work a six-day workweek (weather permitting) and to establish the necessary daily work schedule, generally between about 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
