Pawnee Street will be reconstructed from Meridian to Seneca, beginning January 2, 2007 if weather permits. The $3.2 million project is projected to be complete by July 15, 2007.
The project will reconstruct Pawnee to four through lanes with a center two-way left turn lane. A new storm sewer system will be constructed as part of the project. The east 1,000 feet of the existing pavement will be milled and overlaid with new asphalt pavement to tie into Seneca. Landscaping will be added where right-of-way allows. A new traffic signal will be placed at Pawnee and Glenn.
Construction will be performed in two phases.
Phase 1 consists of waterline, storm sewer and street construction on the south half of Pawnee Street.
Phase 2 focuses on waterline, storm sewer and street construction on the north side of Pawnee.
During both phases, one lane of traffic each direction will be maintained. Side streets will be intermittently closed to traffic; whenever possible, no two adjacent side streets will be closed during the same time. Access to businesses will be maintained. During work hours, intermittent flagging of traffic may occur.
The contractor may work six days each week, from 6:30 AM to 6 PM, to complete the project as soon as possible.
