City Hall, 455 N. Main, is closed today to citizens and City Hall employees, after a late Sunday night electrical fire in the basement shut down water and air conditioning operations. City Hall is expected to reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 18, according to Building Services officials. Additional details regarding the fire and City Hall operations will be released at a news conference scheduled for 10 a.m. today on the first floor of City Hall. First-floor security personnel will direct media to an exact location to be determined later. Employees who work in City Hall will not report to work today, in part because electrical power to the building will be shut down for a few hours today while officials assess damage and conduct repairs.
