On Tuesday, the Wichita City Council approved the following street closures to allow Craig Morgan, a country music singer, to film a music video for his new release, “International Harvester.” Area businesses have been alerted to these street closures and have worked through logistical details with City staff and the Wichita Police Department. The following streets will be closed beginning at 4:30 AM until 8 PM on Thursday, May 17:• Broadway – at 2nd Street (no southbound traffic allowed through) and just north of the Bank of America parking garage (the garage will remain open for Bank of America building employees)• 1st Street – just east of Market, at the alley (this will allow entrance from the alleys for employees to access their businesses) and at Topeka. The video is being produced by Wheatfield Productions. Set up for the video begins at 4:30 AM. The video will actually be shot starting at 1:30 PM. Production officials expect to wrap-up by 8 PM. Those interested in coming downtown to view the production should park outside the main area and walk to the location. There will be no on-site parking dedicated for visitors that want to watch. Craig Morgan’s newest CD, Little Bit of Life, released in November 2006, has been critically lauded as the best work of his career. Last week, he was on “Late Night with Craig Ferguson.” He performs tonight for the River Festival Country Concert. Craig Morgan has a new release coming out: “International Harvester.” A story line was written by “Wheatfield Productions” to shoot a music video at a city location. They had scouted various cities and have chosen Wichita, specifically the main intersection of Broadway and 1st Street, with a focus on the Orpheum Theatre. To produce this video, they have hired 10 people locally and 25 actors from a local talent agency to assist the national firm that has come to Wichita.
