WICHITA – Today, the Q-Line returned for the fourth year to provide downtown daytime service and added a new route that will run on Friday and Saturday evenings. This is the fourth year that the Q-Line has been operating to provide downtown transportation coverage, inexpensive rides for only a quarter, frequent pick-up points and the opportunity to save gas money as fuel costs are expected to rise. “The Q” trolleys run Monday through Friday from 11 AM to 2 PM throughout the summer. Routes were streamlined into two main routes during the week: The Green Route Q Line circulates throughout Downtown generally from the Library, to Old Town, to the Government District and to Century II. This will have pick-ups every 10 minutes. The Blue Route Q circulates along Douglas Street and connects Old Town and Delano. This route operates on a 20-minute schedule. “The New Q” is shaped after the successful Final Friday trolley routes and will run on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the summer. This route runs on the east side, visiting Old Town and downtown area restaurants, attractions, bars and hotels. The hours are from 6 pm – midnight with stops every 15 minutes. For a map and information on The Q and the Historic Trolley Tours, see a special “Q-Line Summer Guide” that will insert citywide in The Wichita Eagle on Thursday, May 31. Brochures will also be available in restaurants, attractions, bars and hotels that are on the route. Or go to www.theqline.com. ABOUT THE Q. The Qs are on the streets and mark the spots of trolley stops. However, anyone can grab the Q by simply waving down the driver of the trolley. Riders pay only a Quarter. The Q provides Quick transportation to help downtown workers Quit wasting gas and money while letting the City’s Quality Transit employees do the driving. This is a partnership effort between the City of Wichita and the Wichita Downtown Development Corporation.
