Council member Jeff Longwell and other City of Wichita officials will present options for building a new bridge across the “Big Ditch” - the flood control system that runs through west Wichita - during a public meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at the Sedgwick County Extension Office, 7001 West 21st St. North. The Extension Office is on the southwest corner of 21st and Ridge Road. Funding for the design and construction of a bridge across the ditch has been earmarked in the City’s Capital Improvement Program. Longwell serves District 5, which is largely west of the Big Ditch. “This bridge is a big issue,” Longwell said. “We need to deal with growth on the west side and what options we have for helping west-side commuters.” Back to Top
