Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center ushers in the holiday season with a wonderful variety of Christmas-oriented productions. For more information regarding the holiday productions, please read below, tune into cable Channel 7, City7, or visit www.wichita.gov. Celebrate!, presented by Music Theatre for Young People, will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6 at Century II’s Mary Jane Teall Theater. Additional performances are at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7. Tickets are $10. Billed as “Wichita’s only song and dance Christmas Revue”, Celebrate! will feature talented young artists from Wichita and the surrounding communities. The performance will highlight old and new Christmas favorites blended into a Radio City Music Hall-style celebration of Christmas past and present. The Wichita Symphony will host its annual free family concert The Spirit of Christmas at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at Century II’s Convention Hall. The performance will feature guest vocalist Arthur Marks, guest conductor Jay Decker and the Butler Community College Concert Choir. Free tickets can be requested through submitting a form available in upcoming editions of The Wichita Eagle. Ballet Wichita’s annual production of The Nutcracker returns to Century II at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13 in Concert Hall. An additional performance is at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14th. Ticket prices start at $12.50. The production features dancers from the Wichita area, principal dancers from American Ballet Theatre and the Ballet Wichita Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Jay Decker. Closing out the holiday season is The Christmas Music of Mannheim Steamroller by Chip Davis at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 16 and 17 in Concert Hall. Ticket prices start at $53. The performance will highlight the band’s unmistakable sound in an extravagant multi-media show.
