The Wichita Ice Center’s 3nd Annual Skate for Food Drive through Sunday Jan. 4. During the Food Drive, customers will bring in a canned food item to benefit the Kansas Food Bank and received free skate rental, free pop and free popcorn. Last year’s goal was to collect 1,000 pounds of food. The drive produced 1,359 pounds of food for the Kansas Food Bank. This year’s goal is to again exceed 1,000 pounds. “It’s good to be charitable throughout the year, but if you can do so during tough economic times, that’s even better,” Rob Roach, the Ice Center’s Sales and Marketing Director, said. The public skating schedules are available online at www.wichitaicecenter.com or at the Wichita Ice Center, 505 W. Maple, across the street from Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
