Wichita Transit completes successful trolley season Wichita Transit will end the successful Q-line trolley season December 27. This season featured a new schedule and a revised route which led to an increase in ridership. In 2007 more than 4,300 people rode the Q-line from May through December. In 2008 that number jumped to more than 7,100 riders over that same time period. “The change of schedule was a positive move,” said Anne Keefer, Wichita Downtown Development Corporate Spokesperson. “It allowed the Q-line to become a part of riders’ leisure activities. Convention groups and visitors liked the convenience, too. I think there is a definite need to keep the service in place, especially with the arena opening a year from now.” The Q-Line seasonal trolley service is funded through a partnership with the Wichita Downtown Development Corporation and a Congestion Mitigation Air Quality grant from the Federal Transit Administration. The Q-Line trolley service will resume in spring of 2009. For information about the Q-Line and other Transit services, go to www.wichita.gov or call (316) 265-7221. Back to Top
